What is Forest Therapy?

Forest Bathing is a nature-based practice focused on reducing stress and promoting overall well-being. It invites you to slow down, be fully present, and explore nature through all five senses, guided by a facilitator – the Forest Bathing Guide. It is about connecting with nature, with yourself and with others.

Forest Therapy involves a series of Forest Bathing sessions tailored to support a specific group by using nature as a therapeutic partner. Forest Therapy addresses the specific needs of the participants, in this case people who experience high levels of stress. It does not involve therapy in the traditional sense: nature is the therapy.

Testimonials

These are some testimonials of the women who took part in a Forest Therapy programme I conducted in 2024.

“Get out in nature, breathe, use your senses, see, hear, touch, smell and taste. Take some time out for yourself and just rest in nature, its good for the soul, mind and body.”

“The whole experience makes me more aware of nature and seeing beauty in everything outdoors. It encourages me to pause and stop my racing thoughts and just be. It also highlighted to me the beauty in little things that I didn’t notice before. It has been a very grounding experience and loved all of it.”

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with other women, with oneself and with nature. This intervention helped to reduce stress levels and brought more mindfulness into my life. I hope to continue to use the beneficial practices throughout my daily life.”
